Recreational amenities in and around Green Valley are diverse and bountiful. For those who are interested in prime quality entertainment, movies, dining, arts and cultural events, The District at Green Valley Ranch is for everyone. The Las Vegas entertainment area is just a 20 minute drive away and offers nearly any type of recreation and leisure activity available; from gambling, roller coasters and magic shows to well stocked buffet lounges, cafes and 24 hour diners. There is almost nothing you cannot find along the Vegas Strip.
For the business and work-oriented, regular conventions are also held in the surrounding hotels, including those related to the arts, technology and business, among many others. Lake Mead is just 15 minutes east of Green Valley and is a popular place for water sports, including jet skiing, boating, ferry cruises for brunch, lunch or dinner. Mount Charleston, on the west side of the valley, has snow skiing at the top as well as camping and breathtaking views for hikers about half to three-quarters of the way up. Green Valley also has two golf courses, The Legacy and Wild Horse.
When you are tired of the glitz and glamour offered along the streets of Las Vegas, you might want to visit the Clark County Heritage Museum. This museum features the rich and colorful history of Southern Nevada. Located on Heritage Street, collections include historic homes that have been restored to recreate the lifestyles of important periods in local history. Also preserved are newspaper print shops, railroad depots and a real 1918 Union Pacific steam engine. Visitors can also gaze at mineral specimens found at a mining exhibit as well as walk through a resurrected ghost town and a half-mile nature trail.
